When was the last time you pampered your feet?

Most of us forget our poor wee feet when we are pampering ourselves. Our feet work hard for us and also deserve some tender loving care!!

To keep your feet in top condition a pedicure should be done at least twice per month.

Consider this pampering of the feet your time. Put your favourite tunes on the stereo, pour a glass of something refreshing and let your mind wander while you follow the easy steps below:

Remove old nail polish with acetone remover

Soak your feet in a plastic bowl fill with warm water,10g of your favourite bath salts and a tablespoon of olive oil. The bath salts will help to soften any dead skin while the olive oil will moisturise. Soak the feet for 10 to 15 minutes

Soften: Apply cuticle softener to the toe nails wait a minute then gently push back the cuticles using an orangewood stick wrapped in absorbent cotton. Don't push your cuticles back so far that they reveal the little moon as you may damage the nail bed. Never cut your cuticles — they are necessary for keeping bacteria from entering the skin

Smooth: Grab a Pumice Stone or any foot scrubber, soak it in water for a minute, then rub the dead skin off the soles, balls and heel of the foot to make them soft and smooth. If your foot turns bright red you are scrubbing too hard

Pamper: Massage your feet and legs with an exfoliating paste. Rinse and dry your feet. Trim toenails cutting them in a square shape to prevent ingrown toenails. Apply a rich moisturizing cream or oil (don't forget your toes) to exfoliate, moisturize, relax and help flexibility. Massage in long upward strokes, moving from your toes to your calves.

Prep: If you are going to apply polish, gently wipe all oil or cream residue off the nails, roll up a paper towel and weave it through your toes to separate them

Polish: Apply a thin base coat using three strokes, one down the middle and one on each side. Polish from the bottom of the nail s to the tips, starting in the center. Don't let the polish get on your cuticles or skin as it is extremely drying and will make your cuticles look rough. Applying a base coat will help prevent your toenails from going yellow from the actual nail polish. Apply two coats of your nail colour and finally a thin top coat. Use orangewood stick wrapped in cotton dipped in nail polish remover to remove excess nail polish. Let your nails dry completely before you wear shoes.
